What is Rest?

The definition of rest in the Oxford dictionaries is the cessation of work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength.

Rest is essential

Rest gives the mind and body time to rejuvenate. In rest our bio-rhythms slow down, hormone production stabilises, and the ageing process decelerates. In a state of genuine rest, our mental, emotional and physical bodies align, resulting in mental balance, inner peace and natural detox.  When rested we make more logical informed decisions, enhance our productivity and engage in fuller and more rewarding relationships.

Rest needs

Routine and time. Since one of the most important functions of rest is to de-stress the body and the mind, it needs to happen at regular intervals and best in conjunction with our circadian rhythms, whether it’s in the form of relaxation, meditation or eight hours sleep.
